Projects

Our brief was for eight supported-living apartments within a large new-build ‘house’. Working again within a conventional Garden City-inspired suburb (this time in Nottingham), led us to look to the source of the architectural language of the surroundings – buildings produced by Voysey, Baillie-Scott and colleagues during the Arts and Crafts movement.

The corner building presents a large asymmetric gable to each street. Subtle changes in the character of the render create a series of quiet elevations which contribute to, but not dominate, their setting. A large chimney-stack (actually the lift shaft) sits at the centre and anchors the composition of gables.
