A new-build house on an irregular triangular plot at the intersection of a conventional interwar south London street and an informal mews. Our proposal responded to the adjacent mews and the character of small-scale industrial infill that occupies the difficult margins of suburban London – the leftover plots where conventional developer houses would not fit. We enjoy these small, ad-hoc, light-industrial structures and the cumulative quality of their architecture. This new house formalises this typology by creating a dwelling in the language of a workshop; a refined new house with the character of a refurbishment.
