We were shortlisted as one of three practices from 160 global applicants to design a house on a small island along the West Coast of France. An expressive structure of load-bearing rammed concrete reflects the local rendered houses. Large roofs complement the planar qualities of the walls and shelter the interior from the high summer sun.

We thought of the house hosting extended family holidays with a series of loosely arranged internal spaces opening to relaxed external living areas.
