1520 London Mansion

This proposal for a new apartment building in south London references the London mansion block typology. Located adjacent to a historic Listed building, a well established set of rules helped guide the design principles – symmetry has been embraced, with massing and proportion reflecting its Listed neighbour.

Material choices have been made with regards to both their longevity in performance and their ability to maintain a timeless quality – precast coloured (green) terrazzo panels form a hard wearing plinth whilst the rendered surfaces above references the adjacent stucco finished Villa. Further articulation of the entrance porch from the main building mass is achieved through the use of reconstituted stone.
